A meal without a Haan Wine is like a day without sunshine
2008 Haan Classic Blend Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
PHILOSOPHY
This wine continues the philosophy of the Hanenhof vineyard of making fine table wines of distinctive varietal character and individual style. The wine is made from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grown on the estate.
VITICULTURE
The fifty year old Semillon vines are grown in sand over deep clay, in the central Barossa floor. The vines are pruned to rod and spur with moving foliage wires to expose the fruit to maximum sunlight.
WINEMAKING
These individual varieties were picked at 12°Be’ to retain the freshness and crisp natural acidity. Handpicked in the cool of the morning and crushed via a chiller to maintain the delicate aromas of these varieties. Whilst fermented separately, post fermentation they were combined to allow for maximum integration. The wine was held at 8°C during stabilsation and a very light fining prior to filtration for bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Bright lemon hues with hints of youthful green impress with this lively fresh style. A lifted nose of tropical fruits with overtones of freshly cut hay.
Delicious flavours of freshly cut tropical fruits combined with a lemon zest acidity which gives a superbly crisp and clean finish. The Semillon provides the fullness throughout the palate allowing the Sauvignon Blanc to provide a lifted floral freshness.
