PHILOSOPHY
This wine continues the philosophy of the Hanenhof vineyard of making fine table wines of distinctive varietal character and individual style. The wine is made from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grown on the estate.
VITICULTURE
The fifty year old Semillon vines are grown in sand over deep clay, in the central Barossa floor. The vines are pruned to rod and spur with moving foliage wires to expose the fruit to maximum sunlight.
WINEMAKING
These individual varieties were picked at 12°Be' to retain the freshness and crisp natural acidity. Handpicked in the cool of the morning and crushed via a chiller to maintain the delicate aromas of these varieties. Whilst fermented separately, post fermentation they were combined to allow for maximum integration. The wine was held at 8°C during stabilsation and a very light fining prior to filtration for bottling.
TASTING NOTES
The wine is pale straw in colour. The fresh aromas of ripe passionfruit are well complemented by hints of lemon & citrus. On the palate the succulent flavours of lemon rind and passionfruit lead into a generous and textural palate. A clean and crisp acidity create excellent balance and a fresh, lingering aftertaste.
